Dear friend, I would like to introduce you to someone. His name is Elephant.

Many years ago, he belonged to my older brother, Adrian. Adrian died before I was born.

Adrian isn't here anymore, but we still have Elephant. Elephant is someone I can cuddle with and hold in pictures. Elephant brings me comfort when I am sad. And Mama told me Elephant is really special because there is an old tradition that elephants never forget.

Elephant is a symbol of how I remember, honor, and love my brother, now and always.

As you read this book and write your own story, I hope you carry the spirit of Elephant with you.

I hope he helps you to remember your brother or sister.

I hope you carry their memory and love with you, the same way I carry my love for Adrian.

As a companion to the picture book, "An Elephant Never Forgets: Connecting with the Sibling who Died before I was Born," this new coloring and activity book is the perfect complement, allowing your child to document their own story.

There are questions and spaces to talk about your child, your deceased child, and your family, with specific sections available to define your family's beliefs about death, answers to your child's questions, and ways you and your family remember your deceased child. There are also plenty of spaces for your child to draw or paste photos, as well as images for coloring on every page.

Once complete, the book will serve as a keepsake and reminder, both of the love your family holds for your deceased child, and also of your willingness to have these hard conversations.

After all, an elephant never forgets, and we won't either.
