Why Elephants?

The elephant symbolizes many things in the bereaved community—
—Love, as in the love a mother elephant holds for her child;
—Remembrance, as in the old adage, "An elephant never forgets"; and
—Breaking of taboo, as in the way bereaved parents choose to speak about their children, even and especially after their death.

The elephant symbolizes all of these things, and shows the world you remember, love, and honor your deceased child, now and always.

The elephant was also Miranda's son Adrian's symbol during her pregnancy with him. She received a stuffed elephant during her pregnancy with Adrian and this elephant serves as a physical reminder of him today.

In 2024, Miranda published a book, "An Elephant Never Forgets," for children born after the death of older sibling. This book is available for sale on this site, as well as on Etsy and Amazon.
